Sticking to my New Year's Resolution Too Well

This year I made a resolution to not backdate my blog posts.  While I have been mostly successful, it has ended up with me posting less.  Not sure if it is really getting the result I intended.  Whoops!  Although, I think it has given me an opportunity to step back and think about my blog space.

Last year I had wedding planning to sprinkle into my rotation of posts.  It was nice to take some of the focus away from my past IF experiences or how IF pops up in my life here and there.

Maybe a shift set in motion.  This year there have been times where I may feel at a loss for what to write.  I have not been as inclined to write about IF, so I guess I have not been writing as much.  I've needed my life to be more, which it has.  It just may not be well reflected in my blog.  I should probably just write more about the everyday or what is current, rather than trying to make that connection to IF specifically.  Just write about life as it is.

  1. Same boat! Barring my now baby posts, I never felt I could truly deviate from blogging about infertility. I always told myself to stick to the point and now I wish I would have written more about what was also going on in my life at the time. I think it's a great idea to write about whatever is on your mind, infertility or otherwise. That's why I am looking forward to my new blog. I feel like with a non-IF title, it will give me more freedom.

    1. Agree. It is important to capture the everyday and happy moments, especially when non-IF related. I think it may help to show life continues onward and there is good to be found. Helps to not take for granted those happy or peaceful moments. They all add up.

  2. You should write whatever you want to write. Whatever floats into your head I think people want to read about life, whatever is happening in that life at the moment.

    1. Yes :) I think my experiment with not backdating posts has helped me come to that realization.

  3. I would love to hear about life as it is. I enjoy all your posts, no matter the topic. I write drafts a lot that don't get posted until later (or never), because sometimes things come up but I don't want to post about them at that particular time, and I think it's okay to capture a moment and not get it up on your space at that time. I love hearing from you and hope to hear more about your newlywed life in your new home. Lots to write about there, I bet! :)

    1. Thanks, Jess! I have my fair share of unpublished posts, too. Sometimes those are just for me. Or after thinking on it, decide I'd rather not publish. I think I wrote more about wedding planning because I realized that was important to document and I'd want to remember some of those fun moments along the way. And I think you are right that I plenty to write about as a newlywed and the new house. I'm going to try to focus my writing on those moments that make me pause and want to take a mental picture.
